Alkaline pH: Maintaining Levels for Vitality

When thinking about living a healthy lifestyle, what characteristics come to mind?  For me, I believe it is a synergistic balance of mental and physical well-being; giving your body and mind both the attention they need day in and day out to reach their optimal condition.  This involves daily training; testing the limits of both your physical prowess and your intellectual capacity.  It would also include spirit; being able to maintain an optimistic and positive perception on daily circumstances no matter what you encounter.  Lastly, I believe the third component would be a divine focus on NUTRITION and what you are allowing into your body every day.  If you were paying attention, you would be able to notice the recurring pattern these three aspects have in common.  These are all daily practices.  All of this being said, I will share a main principle that you can take away from this article and directly apply to your everyday life to drastically impact your health for the better, starting today!

Our body maintains and regulates on a scale that indicates our body’s state of well-being.  This varied scale is our pH levels.  The pH scale runs from 0 to 14, with 0 being the most acidic, 14 being the most alkaline, and 7 being neutral. To survive, our bodies must maintain a pH level between 7.25-7.45, which is just on the alkaline side of neutral. If your body’s pH varies too much from this ideal, it becomes difficult for various enzymes to function properly therefore causing many ailments, diseases and a cancerous environment for your cells.  

Symptoms of Over-Acidity:

  • Constant fatigue and tiredness
  • Easily running out of breath
  • Frequent sighing
  • Muscle pain or cramping after walking short distances
  • Often feeling like you can’t get enough air

When your body is in an acidic state the tissues inside of the body are deprived of oxygen and it makes it very difficult for our cells to transport oxygen and complete metabolic processes.  There are numerous variables that interfere with our body’s pH levels, but we are going to focus on the almighty factor we all have conscious control over: Nutrition and Dietary Intake.

When most speak on nutrition, many tend not to listen.  Reason being, there is such an array of information out there most people become overwhelmed by its entirety.   There are so many outlandish claims of miracle diets and one-size-fits-all cookie cutter nutrition plans.  In the end, there is NO right or wrong nutrition plan, you just need to experiment and find which model works best for you.  We are all individuals and one nutrition plan that provides miraculous results for me MAY have mediocre results on you.  Most individuals in the US are eating diets that are highly concentrated in acidity, rooting from highly processed foods containing little to no substantial nutrients.  That’s why I’m going to make this EASY on you and share a few simple tools that will directly increase your body’s oxygenation and allow for a more alkaline diet therefore raising your pH levels allowing your body to thrive in a healthy environment and revitalize your life!

How to Alkalize your Body:

  • Eat more earth based nutrients such as; vegetables, fruits, nuts/seeds, beans/grains
  • Make water your drink of choice (Ionized water is best)
  • Breathe! (Take a few minutes out of each day to solely focus on concentrated deep breathing techniques)
  • Regular Exercise (At least 3 days/week for an hour or more!)

Bear in mind that the very best type of diet is one which provides foods that break down to make alkaline in addition to acidic waste solutions.  There are a number of alkaline diet plans you could adhere to, utilizing a mixture of alkaline foods.  It is the latest remedy being used by those aspiring to lose weight, follow a healthy diet, or make drastic health changes through nutrition. Alkaline nutrition plans are gaining popularity because of their mental/physical health advantages and simplicity.  

In conclusion, it is all up to you to create a sustainable nutrition plan and have a basic understanding of what foods work in your favor.  You don’t have to remove each of the acidic foods from your diet plan, because it’s an essential compound, but take care not to over-indulge in these types of foods. To be more specific, you have to keep away from highly acidic foods.  Luckily, alkaline foods aren’t boring and one-dimensional.  You can have fun mixing and matching meals to match your preferences.  Boring and lackluster nutrition is a thing of the past.  Enjoy eating nutrient dense foods, that will in turn improve your health, make you feel better and restore long lost vitality into your life!
